The redshanks were at the waterfall in the aviary, next along from the avocets.
The harlequins and spectacled eiders were next to them. More spectacled eiders were in the pool, with scoters and scalysided merganzers.
While back on the bank....others chilled waterlessly.
Back in the pool, the scoters were making a splash!
The eiders and long tailed duck just watched - well, one eider hid its head - as the scoters splashed messily about.
The eiders seemed interested in us - watching, swimming closer, watching.....
.....maybe they expected we would bring their food as it was nearing their feeding time.
Wow, I love the waterfall and the glassed-in pool. This stuff must be new.
ReplyDeletethe glasspool came when the pelicans did a couple years back....but for a long time we couldnt get to see it as they shut the aviary off and you had to go outside due to bird flu
ReplyDeleteHopefully this means that the bird flu has run its course.
ReplyDeletefor now....
