BIRD NEWS:743

A couple of shelducks were seated on the island. The bewicks did not seem to want to look at us on this trip.

Mr and Mrs Bewick seemed ok in their pond....while their cygnets had not been present. I expected them to be removed - probably to another reserve or set free with a flock of Bewicks....

I focused on the parent duo for a while....and knew the youngsters were definitely not in their usual enclosure.

I continued to focus on the adults though...

and even took a video (see it HERE) as they were vocal.

But eventually, we moved to the next door cage, firstly our eyes then feet.

There were two of the cygnets - peeping thru at mommy and daddy swan thru the fencing...and to their former home.... I am not sure what happened to the third cygnet - if it died, was somewhere hidden away, or has gone to a new reserve. However, 2 of them were in the former diving ducks cage.
