BIRD NEWS: 845

My main focus was the magpie goose - but many other of the lake's inhabitants showed up in my pictures.

Next up, the trumpeter duo.

The ID board depicts the pied wagtail clearer than my pictures can, as I usually am some distance away and in a city street or with beach background when sighting them.

We then went into the sandmarten hide...

....to see shelduck.

You can also see Canada Geese, Seagulls,......

Turning to the right, we got a differing view - an island with many seagulls and some shelduck. of course, you would not expect to see them at this time of year, only from April to Septemberish time.

BIRD NEWS: 844

Here are a couple of close up shots of the spectacled eiders...& scaly-sided merganzers.

I think you can see why each species got it's name....

There definitely spectacle like shapes around the male spectacled eider, if only patches on the female.

And, if you look carefully, some of my merganzer shots show their speckled 'scaly' sides.

Eventually, we moved along...

...to the lake with magpie geese, radjah shelduck, seagull, ....

Where we stayed for a short time before moving onwards.

BIRD NEWS: 843

The redshanks were at the waterfall in the aviary, next along from the avocets.

The harlequins and spectacled eiders were next to them. More spectacled eiders were in the pool, with scoters and scalysided merganzers.

While back on the bank....others chilled waterlessly.

Back in the pool, the scoters were making a splash!

The eiders and long tailed duck just watched - well, one eider hid its head - as the scoters splashed messily about.

The eiders seemed interested in us - watching, swimming closer, watching.....

.....maybe they expected we would bring their food as it was nearing their feeding time.

BIRD NEWS: 842

Naboo proudly starts the next post...

Our next excursion was to Sheffield Park. I took a shot or two of the seagulls and mallards on the lake, despite there not being that much variety birdwise.

There was a crow in one of the older trees.

It looked down upon us as we walked past.

Now, back to Naboo 2023 before photos of the next excursion.

Our next excursion was a hike to Arundel and back through the woodland. Naturally, WWT was our main destination, both for refreshments and birding.

Initially, after lunch, we saw the pelican duo. On the other end of their lake I spotted a couple of red breasted geese. We then entered the coastal aviary and spotted a pair of avocet hanging out within their territory and their 'room mates'.

BIRD NEWS: 841

Still a few shots of the flying pigeons to share...

You know me and pigeons....if you are a regular reader.

But here is an interlude of Naboo 2023.

You probably cannot see it, but there is a kestrel up in the skies above the flooded lake.

There was also a pied wagtail on the water edge and a stonechat duo on the fence - but these do not seem to have come out either - the main problem with photographs at RSPB P.B. is distance....

There is the stonechat...

There is the kestrel - coming in to land in the tree....alongside the flooded fields/lake.

BIRD NEWS: 840

A mass of flying pigeons!

Pigeons, being my favored bird, means that quite a few photos got taken of them....

I think pigeons in flight look lovely....but in case you do not....

.....I will transfer subject.....

...to Naboo 2023 for an interlude.

But then back to the pigeons in flight.....

.....a most beautiful graceful sight.

BIRD NEWS: 839

The dunnock stayed put, allowing several photos featuring it.

We moved on and found a great tit again.

A couple of pictures later, we moved on again. We next spotted a map/info board.

Then a flooded area that had once been where we spotted a marsh harrier and multiple lapwing.

We did spot one bird.....but not as many as usual.

I am afraid I am uncertain what this was, now....possibly a wagtail...

A beautiful sight stared into my camera next......
