I took a few pictures of the pelicans at WWT Arundel – all four are still alive.
Also in the pelican pond were a coot and her youngster.....and a ripple....
…..that turned out to be another youngster diving.
As we passed by the pelican pond towards the aviary, we spotted a Greylag family.
They eventually came up to us, came on land and walked across into the marshy bog land the other side of the path one by one....parents keeping a watchful eye on us as we watched them.
inside the aviary were 6 avocet and a red shank.
There were plenty more birds, but these were the first to catch our eye.
I'm glad the pelicans are all alive. It seems there have been a lot of deaths lately.

ReplyDeleteNone?! All of the Trumpeter Swans have died? That's very alarming.
ReplyDeleteI dont know yet. but the one that was unhappy and awaiting a new mate is vanished...either died or been removed to another wetland center.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope it didn't die of a broken heart. 🙁
ReplyDeletewe have yet to discover why it died or where it went.....it may just have been taken to a different reserve to pair up rather than having a new partner brought to this one.
