BIRD NEWS:655

There were two herons, actually - and a load of mud flats....

The one on the island to my left, was closest - but the one at a distance dead centre was the one I spotted first.

The nearest one appeared to be taking up a yoga pose...

Maybe not.... Off I wandered.

Along with plenty of autumnal color as a backdrop, I found my Bewick swan family relaxing on the far bank.

There were Silvertag and Orangetag with their three youngsters, observing from a distance.

I was patient and stayed to watch. Eventually each of the quintet spotted me - and either ignored me or looked wonderingly 'was that that woman who kept standing watching them, again?'
