Chackie
was on the perch eating suet ball and homemade bread, and I
accidentally captured Curio on the bird bath with a mouthful of
second-nest material. It was not long before Chackie wanted a drink,
so dislodged Curio in order to get one.
After
taking a drink, Chackie returned for more food at the feeder.
Firstly, a munch at the suet balls - then swinging around, his eye
and beak went towards the homemade bread...
...and
SUCCESS! Chackie grabs a chunk of bread and flies away with it.
May
continued and Curio was found to be gathering large beakfuls of
nesting material. This might have been good or neutral news; however,
the nesting site chosen on this occasion is in a somewhat dangerous
neighborhood. The bush being used is also used as a cat shelter from
rain and dozing spot.
Finally
for today, I have a delightful surprise from the second week in May.
We have a new species moved into the yard. It is not a sparrow with a
yellow head, but....
Finch? Yellow Warbler? Tweety Bird?
