Here
is another shot of Mr Sparrow - AKA Tapper - feeding its young. One
of the duo got rather impatient and decided to get the seed before its
sibling - by landing on top of its father and trying to snatch it!
But the father sparrow held its ground - and food.
This
brings us to the second weekend in May. On the Saturday, I took a few
photos at home before going on a short excursion in the afternoon.
Ditty was perched in the tree, resting meditatively...
...until
activity began nearby. The young starlings had arrived in the tree.
Ditty soon settled down again, but the young starlings chirrrrrrred
for food anytime a parent starling approached.
It
was not long before Ditty was calm once more though - as soon as the
feeding ritual ended and the starling youths settled down to await
another parental sighting.
Jumping on your father's head will not make him feed you any faster. :D
