Continuing
the story of the excess wood pigeon, as you can see in my next shared
photograph, the female got hungry and decided to return to the sill to
try its luck getting a few more seed. Alas, its partners tail was in
the way of the food - so it flew around to try to get in front...
At
the same time as the male fluttered its wings to dislodge the excess
bird, alas. It all ended up with the trio departing after some wing
flapping.
The
sill is used daily now by the new Ditty. The original Ditty has left
the yard now her holly tree has been chopped down next door - but
her offspring or friend has moved in with their partner and made a
nest in our tree - so shall now take over the general name for 'chief
dove' Ditty. This Ditty likes to meditate on my sill on and off
during the day.
That
brings us to the second weekend in April, upon which I took 2
excursions - the first to Worthing and second to Arundel. The first
two shots are of a pair of jackdaws in a garden near the bus stop.
Then
we get to Worthing - and of course one of the first birds I
photographed was a beach pigeon...or 3
It seems like the birds get more comfortable in your yard with every generation.
